Afterschool Learning

This is the “digital” learning site of our Afterschool Georgia non-profit website. We offer a tuition-free blended tutoring  program of traditional and digital learning for children in grades K-2, specifically those who have learning disorders, high functioning autistics, and those with ADHD.

ATTENTION MOBILE PHONE USERS: To enable access to all of the many educational links at the bottom of this page, please scroll down to the page bottom and choose “VIEW FULL SITE”.

A handy way to reference national common core standards is an Android Market app called “common core“.

Master Connect is the great website offering not only this app but also embeds and widgets; Get their codes here .

The following are teachers’ sites that the children enjoy while with us at the center:

Arcademic Skill Builders

Arcademics Plus: The goal of this educational software builder is to  replicate the persistence and involvement as observed in video game players. Their games help improve student performance through:

  • Increased time on task
  • Increased student motivation and engagement
  • Increased corrective feedback

Funnix Math: This is a huge math software program with 200  worksheets  that co-ordinate with 50 lessons.  These lessons  range in difficulty from Pre-K level to Grade 3.  I will be gradually uploading all 200 worksheets for use in the learning center. This program is very interactive but is not useful for nonverbal students.

Spelling and Vocabulary City: This is an excellent program for reading, spelling, vocabulary usage, etc. for children with learning disorders.  It is a powerful program that can be adapted to meet a variety of children’s learning styles.

Starfall: First and Second Grade teachers give plenty of teaching and worksheets covering the foundation of reading.  I have the Kids begin here and go through the videos and slide presentations as a fun confirmation to me that they’ve “got” the basics.   There are three levels of reading practice: Learn to Read, It’s Fun to Read, and I’m Reading.

Do2Learn: This site is for Special Needs students and I draw from particular sections that are excellent. There are many wholesome, educational apps for Android Smart phones.  We encourage parents to use them during travel time to engage your children in learning fun.
